Gache Gache Bay

Gache Gache Bay is a scenic bay/inlet on the eastern basin of Lake Kariba in Mashonaland West, Zimbabwe. It is formed around the mouth of the Gache Gache River, where the river enters Lake Kariba. The area is part of the broader Zambezi Valley/Lake Kariba safari region and is known for fishing, boating, birdwatching and wildlife.



Gache Gache is particularly known for its tiger fishing, while the surrounding shoreline and river system support elephants, buffalo, hippos, crocodiles, antelope and abundant birdlife. The area has a relatively remote wilderness character, with access by road, boat from Kariba, or charter aircraft. Gache Gache Airstrip is only about 2 km from Gache Gache Lodge, making it an important access point for visitors.



The bay is not inside Mana Pools National Park. It lies in the Lake Kariba eastern basin, adjacent to the broader Charara Safari Area/Gache Gache conservation landscape. ZimParks' Lake Kariba fishery management plan specifically identifies Gache Gache as one of the fishing camps under its jurisdiction.
